Senior Structural Engineer - Dublin Office

As Senior Structural Engineer, you will act as project lead with overall responsibility for delivering BMCE services on the project.

Location: Greater Dublin

Responsibilities

  • Act as project lead with overall responsibility for delivering BMCE services on the project.
  • Responsible for preparing fee proposals and monitoring in-house costs throughout the project programme.
  • Responsible for liaising and coordinating on behalf of BMCE with other project team members such as Architects, Landscape Architects, M&E Consultants, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers.
  • Responsible for overseeing the structural design, production of drawings, production of design packages etc in a timely in line with the overall project programme.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the design is adequately represented on general arrangement drawings and where applicable on reinforcement detail drawings.
  • Responsible for preparing written reports and specifications.
  • As Project Engineer you will represent the company at various design team and site meetings.
  • Review designs and documents prepared by Graduate and Design Engineers within the team.
  • Prepare Design Risk Assessments.
  • Undertake BCAR inspections.
  • Lead Project Stage Review process.
  • Ensure project management complies with in-house quality system.

Qualifications

  • Minimum BEng Hons degree in civil/structural engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post qualification experience.
  • Achieved Chartered status with Engineers Ireland and / or the Institute of Structural Engineers.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrates consistent application of engineering knowledge across a number of projects.
  • Able to use initiative to solve engineering problems.
  • Is personally responsible for delivering engineering services on behalf of the practice within the terms of our agreed scope.
  • Is a leader within the organization.
  • Demonstrates a track record communicating effectively with clients and design teams.
  • Provides strong evidence of the application and understanding of standards, codes of practice within their area of expertise.
  • Is involved with professional bodies, promoting the profile of the engineering profession.

Preferred Skills

  • Be proficient in managing in-house resources, normally on multiple projects.
  • Good time management and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Start to develop contacts with clients directly. Secure work direct from client.
  • Excellent ability to liaise with members of design / construction teams.

Civil Project Engineer - Dublin Office

Location: Greater Dublin

Preference for Irish Level 8 Qualification and Engineers Ireland Chartership.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in managing Planning / LRD applications from concept to completion including production of drainage / surface water management, flood risk, outline construction management plans.
  • Ability to manage and liaise with others such as Traffic Engineers.
  • Experience of dealing with Uisce Eireann / other Statutory bodies.
  • Track record in production of tender and construction stage information for large scale projects >€20m.
  • Ability to work independently as part of wider team.

As a Graduate Engineer with the company, you will be fully supported and guided through the professional development process as part of our in house Graduate Development Programme. As part of the Programme, you will be assigned a mentor who will work closely with you to develop your knowledge base and professional experience. In addition, you will have the opportunity to attend our regular in-house lunchtime talks by senior colleagues and industry experts.

DUTIES:

  • Develop knowledge of various construction materials.
  • Carry out global loading and load takedown calculations.
  • Develop knowledge relating to structural analysis and prepare analysis models.
  • Develop skills relating to elemental design in accordance with design codes.
  • Assist with delivery of general arrangement and reinforcement detail drawings.
  • Carry out site inspections.
  • Attend design team and site meetings as required.
  • Participate in project stage reviews.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Minimum BEng Hons degree in civil/structural engineering


COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Demonstrates applying engineering knowledge to aspects of a project under supervision e.g. elemental design.
  • Begins to identify their skill set and training requirements.
  • Begins to develop a range of communication skills.
