Barrett Mahony Consulting Engineers were delighted to act as Civil & Structural Engineers for BCP Capital on the redevelopment of the iconic Central Hotel, which reopens this week as The Hoxton Dublin.
A Dublin landmark for almost 150 years, the Central Hotel has undergone a major transformation while carefully respecting its historic fabric. The much-loved Library Bar returns with many original features preserved — including the distinctive first-floor staircase — now complemented by a contemporary rooftop extension and a newly interconnected building on Dame Court.
Working alongside McCullough Mulvin Architects and the wider design team, Barrett Mahony delivered the structural solutions required to sensitively integrate new accommodation, a three-storey link bridge, and a landscaped courtyard space — a redevelopment that demanded significant structural interventions to transform the protected structure into a modern, high-quality hotel in the heart of the city.
The completed development delivers 129 bedrooms and a suite of vibrant public amenities, re-establishing the hotel as an active and welcoming part of Dublin’s urban fabric.
Congratulations to BCP Capital and the entire project team on the successful reopening of this landmark building.
